The GPYHA Board of Directors is thrilled to announce today that John Mahoney has accepted the role of GPYHA President, effective immediately.

John is a native of Narragansett, Rhode Island. He graduated from Providence College and continued on to Northeastern University School of Law. He has been practicing law in Rhode Island since 2001. He currently resides in Seekonk with his wife Danielle and two children, Sofia and JJ.

Previously a casual hockey fan, John has displayed considerable admiration and enthusiasm for GPYHA since becoming part of the organization. It began when his son, JJ, participated in the Summer “Learn to Play” session. He was impressed with the quality and passion of coaching displayed. Following that experience, JJ joined the Mite Norris travel team, and John’s appreciation and excitement for GPYHA continued to grow. Additionally, getting swept up in the hockey fervor, his daughter, Sofia, signed up for the “Learn to Skate/Learn to Play” fall session, and eventually participated in some House League games. With that, John’s interest in the organization only blossomed further. Throughout the season, John frequently volunteered his time and energy with the various tournaments and activities sponsored by GPYHA, as well as helping out where he could with House League. He could also be seen zealously cheering on some of his favorite players at their games across the region.

We are excited to welcome John as our new President and look forward to the new ideas, enthusiasm, and earnestness that he will bring to the organization.

Go Bears!!
